visa

The better part of yesterday was spent obtaining a visa from the Liberian consulate in New York City. While I preferred to be Tyler Park, the UN building which held the consulate was fascinating. Hundreds of nations separated only by plaster walls. Diverse dignitaries sharing elevators.

One man who worked at the consulate was from Monrovia, the city I will be staying at. Tall and soft spoken, his kind demeanor made me excited to meet the Liberian people. One recommendation was made to me: bring goulashes.
"It's the rainy season from now until October."
Another reason to enjoy the lovely May weather we are having.
